Ethel Turner (1872-1958) is author of the best-selling children's novel, Seren Little Australians and 40 other similar works including The Family at Misrule, The Cub and Flower o' the Pine. Many of her early stories first appeared in The Bulletin. She was editor of the Children's Page in the Town and Country Journal for 27 years and then Chief Sunbeamer for the Sunday Sun. In private life she was Mrs H. R. Curlewis. Her Diaries give an accurate and historic record of a gracious style of living in Sydney circa 1900.
