Dear Reader,

When I saw that Flossle had stuck this picture on the back of her diary, I couldn't resist a peek Inside to see If she had been a happy child... one peek was not enoughl

Flossie's dad, Archle, could never have Imagined that his daughter would wave him off to fight in WWII, as he had waved his own father off to fight in WWL. Unfortunately, this was exactly what happened; soon, ratloning, gas masks, bombs, chilblains, gum-chewing Yanks and the threat of an enemy Invasion became part of Flossie's dally life. Some days she coped brilliantly, on others it wasn't just the bombs that exploded!

Was Flossie a happy child? Is it possible to be a happy chlld during a war? I'll let you read her diary and find out. Only as Flossle might say, "Don't you go blabbing - It's a flipping secret!"

Happy reading,

Marcia Williams
