Nobody much likes having pot shots taken at them. least ofall on holiday. But when someone snipes at jane and Dagobert Brown on a lonely mountain road in the Pyrenees, on their way by tandem to the Puig d'Aze Musical Festival, this is only the beginning of their troubles. That same night their delectable niece Perdita bursts tearfully into their hotel bedroom, convinced that she has just shot Johnny Corcoran, a particularly unpleasant fellow she'd been rather keen on.
From then on mystery follows mystery, involving Russian spies, stolen bicycles, a child prodigy with a weakness for ice-cream, and the maestro himself.
Kitson, the world-famous harpsichordist with a similar weakness for strong liquor. The whole affair romps along splendidly with Mr Ames's accustomed gusto and wit, so if you feel like a holiday in the Pyrenees, in excellent company with a really mystifying murder for extra kicks, this is the book for you.
