After the death of his father, Kingdom Glummerdom sells the country manor and buys a mansion in London. He marries an American gold-digger, who gets herself caught up in a tsunami. With the help of his faithful butler, he demolishes the interior walls to create a nine-hole golf course complete with sand bunkers and water traps. So begins the outrageous antics of Kingdom, and his even stranger second wife and soul mate: Annavieve.
Downes takes us into the highly eccentric world of the upper classes thru a series of bizarre incidents, which includes a conman, a Dutchman who threatens murder, a gigolo, and the lecherous drunken skirt-chasing Lord Tuffy, who is in urgent need of a 'pop man' (assassin) not to mention the certified insane, pyromaniac, alcoholic, compulsive liar gay blade Cyril-Kingdom's cousin. A delightful farcical let-off that gallops at a fair clip, intermingled with some of the most delicious dialogue
•you're ever to encounter. A readable feast to be sure, complete with a nice fiery ending. Cries out for a sequel!
